Saturday's To Do List
Oct. 2nd, 2004 06:46 am1. print the rest of the music for tomorrow
2. mark what parts I'm playing on each song
3. get music IN ORDER and into page sleeves
4. finish lucetting laces for my bodice
5. get ends woven in on thigh-hi stockings
6. make ties for thigh-hi stockings
7. dig out cloaks
8. clean out and re-pack basket (recorders & music, stand, feast gear, some cloth hankies)
9. find something less modern-looking to put a stash of altoids in --- VERY IMPORTANT
[edited to add]
10. MAKE SURE TICKETS ARE IN PURSE. It'd suck to have to pay to get in.
[editited again to add]
11. make sure I have Benadryl and some kind of lotion in basket, since I'm scratching again. I'd hate to get blood on the new white chemise.
edited one more time:
9:41 pm...everything's done except going through all the music and marking parts, and a lot of it was marked already. Oh, and the altoids stash. Sitll need to figure that out. Didn't do ties for the thigh-hi's, they just wouldn't stay up. Instead, I stitched up a quick and sleazy garter belt (elastic and four buttons)....nothing fancy or elegant, but it will hold my stockings up, and that's good enough.

Date: 2004-10-02 08:33 am (UTC)Yay for lucetting!!
*grin*
I had this absolutely crazy idea last night... I used to jokingly measure how "long" court was by lucetting a new cord straight through court. When I first started, I was much slower than I am now. Boar's Head court a few years ago was a little over 3 feet long (3.5 to 4 hours). WW court last year, when Astrid was determined to have a short court (and hence asked me to measure it for proof) eneded up 3.5 YARDS long in under 2 hours. I had to splice 6 times.
Well, see... we're about to become a new kingdom, see... and Coronation is going to basically be a day of courts and lots of historical firsts, see... and wouldn't it be neat to have a historical record of the length of our very first courts? I could even do it in kingdom colors! Gold for the actual coronation ceremony... Black for the law court (They have to read it all into court to make it official)... and White for the evening court when they create all the awards and establish premiers. Wouldn't it be cool????
Isn't that just an insane idea???
(I would, of course, come prepared with large balls of crochet cotton, rather than pearl cotton skeins to avoid the need for splicing, thereby creating a more true measure of the "length" of the courts)

Date: 2004-10-02 09:38 am (UTC)I'm currently working off of 2-oz balls of pearl cotton from Yarn Barn. I'm about half done, and I'm kinda in a toot to finish it. I've a notion to take the leftover alpaca sock yarn and do myself some of those fingerless gloves I've seen so many patterns for. Not sure I could have them done by tomorrow morning, when I'd need them (it's supposed to be 50 degrees out when we play the first time tomorrow), but I could try.
