The Sock and UnSock Reports
Aug. 18th, 2004 07:24 amThe Sock Report: nothing much to report. Did start the gussett shaping on my purse socks last Saturday, guess I'll have plenty of time to work on it this week. Oh, and the lacy thigh-hi's are finished, except for weaving in ends. I have a new sock pattern I got online to try, witha recipient in mind, so I won't say more about it here.
The UnSock Report: Finished the body of By's sweater last night, did a 3-needle bind-off on the shoulders. May have to take that out and lengthen the shoulders a bit, he was worried about the armholes binding when he had heavy shirts under the sweater. We'll see. Started a sleeve, got about 5" done.
I started, frogged, and restarted the Origami Kimono Sweater. Could figure out why it was taking so much yarn, the first time. Gauge, the silent killer of projects--there's a HUGE amount of difference between the 2.75 sts per inch called for, and the 2 sts per inch I was knitting. So, halfway into the second set of skeins (this is a 2 strands at a time project), with 9" finished, I ripped The Whole Thing Out. Gak. And started over on smaller needles. It's now about 5" done.
