Something By hadn't mentioned about our visit with Mom last week

So By mentioned this afternoon that while we were in the book store, Mom was telling him all about she had finally been guilt-tripped into teaching Sunday school. By commented to her that he'd finally heard of a group he wouldn't mind going to "church" with, if they ever had a branch near us--the Church of Craft. (Basicly, it's a group that thinks that working with your hands is a meditation that brings you closer to the divine, however you choose to define "divine". I'm very attracted to what I've seen of them so far.) Mom didn't think much of this idea, and told By that "going to a real church every now and then wouldn't hurt him."

We'll see how much Mom puts together...we've become much more open through the years, mostly because we just don't have the patience to hide everything anymore. We do try to edit....Heartland we've mentioned by name (leaving the word "pagan" out), and we told Mom it was a festival for "hippies and artists", which is true enough. And she knows it's a clothing-optional campground, that slipped out last year. Even told her about doing the rangoli, just edited the spiritual aspects out of the telling, which kind of bites, because that's what makes doing the rangoli so exciting. So she knows more of what we do, now, but not always the whys involved. I'd love to include her in that, but I just don't think she could adapt to and accept that part of our lives.

So, I may hear about this in the next few months, or I might not. Since the incident happened in public, Mom didn't make a big deal out of it at the time, and since she'd had Grandma staying with her for the week before the visit, it may be lost in the general fog of rearranging the house that such long visits always entail. (Grandma is even shorter than I am, and tends to move things to places that are much easier for her to get to, but drive everyone else around her nuts.) Mom may just vent to my sister about it, in which case I will hear from Sis very soon after she and Mom talk.

Not much I can do about it either way, right now.
