I don't feel like I got a weekend, and this week at work isn't starting out any slower. Sunday was the HSA meeting, which shoots the whole day, this close to festival, and then dug plants to take with me on the running around Monday. Monday, I went to Leavenworth and dug plants from Betty's garden, then took stuff to school and potted it up for Donna, then back home and planted the rest in my garden. Yesterday, I spent working on the books to send with Albert to sell; I only got 6 done, too tired to move faster. Did get laundry done yesterday, though. And tonight, I get to water the new stuff in the garden, then gather the trash and clean litterboxes. Oh, joy.

And, I'm way behind in responding to emails. If you're waiting to hear from me, sorry 'bout that, I'll try to get to it today or tomorrow.

By's still salvaging piles of stuff from that warehouse....14' long boards and posts, last night. I think he's bringing home cement blocks tonight, and more posts. I guess they're getting close to done on it.

He's doing the "Kinky Garage Sale and Toymaker's Exhibition" again this year. Didn't sell much last year, and so he's not made anything new to put in the show, but he figured it was worth a try. That's Friday night, of this week. I can't remember if we have anything else going on this weekend. I hope not.

Still haven't heard from my sister about her test results; I hope that means it's good news. Tried to call last night, but no one was home.

Apparently, the administration hasn't announced whether or not they've hired a Grounds Supervisor yet, although I know they made Applicant an offer last Friday--Maintenance Supervisor was in my truck when Maintenance Director called him and told him to make the offer. The administration could have saved themselves a lot of hard feelings if they'd just communicate with the staff more than they do now.

It's not supposed to be windy today, so I get to spray weeds while the weather's cooperative, and go chase PO's and tree orders in the afternoon. And sometime today (maybe, if I can squeeze the time), I REALLY need to water the new plantings...we just didn't get the amount of rain I was hoping for this weekend. And Courtney's baby is sick today, so she's out......I never found the second PO for trees that I was chasing last week; it may still be on Maintenance Supervisor's desk, or it may be lost on the Facility Planner's desk, who knows.....The PO for ID labels for trees is stalled AGAIN, this time because the label company says the info we want on the labels won't fit on the size I specified. Funny thing, it fit on the first 200 signs I ordered. And, I got a message from the nursery saying part of my backorder of shrubs and trees was in. Gak. Too much to deal with before 8am.

And sometime today, I need to meet with the gal at the Child Care Center and figure out where she wants these Jerusalem artichokes.....I got 3 starts from Betty on Monday.

Grounds Foreman said this morning that he's leaving, soon, he's just not sure how soon...if he stays to a certain point, he'll get an extra week's worth of vacation/personal leave that he will be paid for when he leaves, so he needs to figure out when that breakover point is. Think he's planning on going back to school--somewhere else, obviously.

The Sock Report: Not much knitting to report, sock or otherwise, it's that time of year. Did get lots done on the socks I'm doing for By during the HSA meeting....I've started the toe shaping on the second sock, so maybe another hour's worth of knitting, plus 20 min or so to graft the toe closed and weave in ends on both socks.

The UnSock Report: Finished the first side piece on the Stonington Shawl after work on Sat. I'm getting the itch to put it aside and start something more practical, like a summer top for myself. I've got several nice patterns, and I could use a couple of summer tops. Even got yarn I could use. That may be my birthday present for myself, to start a simle project for me, if I'm diligent and get enough of the shawl done.

One of these days, I really need to get those shawls blocked.....at the rate I'm going, I'll be able to spread a blanket out on the deck, and do it there, one at a time.

The Next UnSock Report: Only got 6 of the 10 books done for Albert, but they look nice. By made me a four-pronged punch for doing the spine holes in the leather, which really sped things up, and improved the consistency of spacing and stitching. He also cut some antler buttons for me to use. The paper's a bit too smooth and white and fine to really look "period" for Civil War, but otherwise, they'll do, I think. I have a sore spot from pulling the needles on my right thumb, and a small bruise on my left middle finger where I hit it with the hammer. Could have been worse. I'll keep assembling things, one at a time, now, so (a) I'll have more ready in case Albert wants to take another batch, or (b) I'll have a bunch ready to put out at Heartland. I'm having more fun with the books I'm doing for Heartland....I can play with the covers more, and use different stitching styles. I think I need to do another caterpillar binding; I'd like to see if that would sell. I think they're cool.....
