anguisetteowner off last night, around 9pm, about 4 hrs before the ice and such hit here, so he ought to have had an easy drive east. We haven't heard from him yet, but I expect he's sleeping.
The Sock Report: finished my Xmas socks last night....toe up, four cables running up the front of the sock, one cable starting at the base of the heel and running up the back of the leg, and ribbing on the rest of the leg. Roll-top cuff, 'cuz I couldn't figure out how to work a ribbing pattern gracefully out of the cables. But it works. Have a decent amount of that yarn left over, too--with some of my other leeftovers, it'll either be a kick-butt pair of stripey gloves, or very colorful socks. Maybe that new entrelac-cuff sock pattern I've got.....
Going to go to Yarn Barn today (if the roads aren't too bad) and fetch some larger sock needles for a pair of "Fireside Socks" out of the new pattern book. Double yarn thickness, only 28 sts around, cozy looking. Ought to be good for a friend of ours.
The Unsock Report: started another shawl last night (at a quarter 'til midnight, what was I thinking???). Another Faroese, in that soft grey wool, a pattern by Meg Swanson this time. Not as big, only 391 sts to start. I have the first two inches done, and just stopped myself last night before embarking on the first rows of the lace pattern (at 1am). Started this one on the Denise Interchangeable needles By's mom sent home with me--those are nice. I do wish they had a wider size range (they stop at #5 on the small end, and I use #0-#4 regularly), but they are pleasant to work with.
I think today's agenda involves a trip to Lawrence to get rid of recyclables and run a few errands. We'll see how far we get. We're not really in a hurry today.
