Family holiday plans, finally
Nov. 18th, 2010 08:07 pmFinally got Mom on the phone. She says she emailed me about all this days ago, but I didn't get it, so.....
I had told Mom and Sis that we couldn't day-trip Uncle M's. Sis refused to go on the grounds that she'd have to make a trip up here to pick up stuff from me a day later, and didn't want to drive that much. Since we weren't going, Grandma refused to go to Uncle M's, because she and his second wife do NOT get along, and Grandma won't be around her without other family there to buffer.
So we're going to Mom's, my bunch, Sis and her bunch, and Grandma.
Uncle M is a bit put out because his kids and grandkids won't get to see Grandma, although they're perfectly capable of making the drive, it's not that far for them. Not like they've put out much effort to see Grandma over the years, unless someone took her to them.
Plans for the annual birthday dinner are up in the air. We've done it at the Brookville Hotel for years. Uncle M is lobbying for moving it to his town this year, to be easier for his bunch. Mom's suggesting Salina, as being somewhat central. **shrugs** They'll tell me where and when eventually, and we'll go or not, as our time and means allow.
Mom also said tonight that she got **2** calls from the county health nurse about Granfma today. Seems Grandma's VERY non-complaint with her meds. Like, missing 14 of her 28 shots last week, and possibly throwing some of her meds away unopened, and all the other crap old slightly senile people pull.
And....
Our estemmed govenor-elect is already putting public schools on notive that he thinks they're budgets are too padded, and he's going to cut even more out. Mom says retirement looks better and better, then it won't be her problem. I pointed out that this guy will have two years to gut schools, just in time for my kids to start school, and I am worried.
