Too much news

I guess I just wasn't paying attention to the date; I told myself last week that I wouldn't be turning on the news today and tomorrow. Just habit now--turn off the alarm and turn on NPR. Blech. Yes, it happened, yes it was terrible, but aren't there other things to report on? Didn't anything happen yesterday? Our lives did not stop, frozen, last September, no matter what the media seems to think.

Must change subject--it's been too nice a weekend to think about Sept 11 this early.

We took a friend out to lunch Sunday; not sure how much good it did. We were hoping to cheer him up, 'cuz he's had a rough summer, but it seemed like anything we said upset him. I just don't know what else we can do.

I finished a project Saturday night--a temari for a gal on the the talktemari list (we're doing an exchange). For those who might not know, check out temarikai.com for a good overview of temari. For those that do know what I'm blathering about, this one is red and shaded ivories on a light dusty rose background, 'cuz my exchange partner didn't like purple. Red & ivory was all I could think of. What kind of person doesn't like purple??? *shakes head* Maybe when I figure out how to put pics on here, I'll put some pics up.


Current Project: teenie temari (1" in diam), shaded purples (ha!) and ivory on a metallic gold background.

I spent a little quality time in the lj help files the other day; that explained some of it. We're supposed to have some free web page space with our provider as part of our service, now I need to figure out how to get stuff from my computer to the web.

Temari-in-a-jar--proper name is bin-temari. Those people are crazier than I am. Were you on a page that explained how they got the ball into the jar? They make the ball, then PULL OUT THE STUFFING, poke the thing into the jar with the hole up, put the stuffing back in (very carefully, I'm told), and then twitch the thread wrap and stitching back into place. *shudder* Just don't think I could bring myself to do that to something I'd already spent 6-10 hrs on.

Yes, I think we're thinking of the same page. You obviously couldn't pull it off with a container with too small of a mouth, otherwise the ball would distort too much. Definitely a trick for people with much lower sanity levels than I.
