Jul. 26th, 2003 05:29 amThe thing I dislike abut being the only FT person here is I get stuck watching the shop and handing out keys. I'm currently waiting for two people to come pick their vans up at 6am (it's now 6:15). Blech. Does give me time to type, though.
Never mind, they just arrived. You'd think the police academy staff would be on time.
Spent yesterday in the water truck. Big surprise. Predictably, I spent that time knitting--I've just finished the dragon pattern on the toe of Ranj's Turkish sock, which is almost half the foot. I'd like to get up to the heel join today, although I didn't bring the black and red for that bit. I didn't touch the aran sandal sock yesterday afternoon--I'd brought it thinking it might be a good project for when it got too hot to work with the fuzzier Wool-ease yarn, but it wasn't that bad yesterday.
I finished the second sleeve on the (now mostly grey) Icelandic sweater last night, and started working on the body again, changing the color from the charcoal to dark blue. It's nice, fairly subtle. Which will make up for the rest of the colorwork on that sweater--nothing garish, but strong contrast. I may actually have this one done BEFORE I'll want to wear it.
I must be PMSing or something--I have a stronger than usual urge to start projects, and I was walking around the living room last night finger yarns and plotting....I think the only thing that prevented me from starting a pair of alpaca socks was that my hands are really rough from pulling weeds, and catch on the yarn.
I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to go to the toymaker's thing at the coffee shop tonight. I'd like to go see what people besides By are doing, but the coffee shop is a lots-of-people-smoking-all-the-time sort of place, and I'm just not sure I'm up to it today. I'm also not sure I'm up to projecting...how did By put it last night? ah yes, slight butch top....the whole time I'm there, because he says that's what they'll respect, there is no neutral in that crowd. Hrmph. Humans. By's more patient with silly human games than I am.
