Question for my techie friends

I think I need to get a thumb drive for moving data between my work and home computers, and from my decktop to the computer in the classroom. Taking stuff home, or between buildings, on cd's is starting to get silly.

I would welcome recommendations of type/brand/etc.

You might look at a USB drive.

I had a 128mb thumb drive, and it died in less than a year.
I have a kit to spare that converts a laptop hard drive into a USB External/To Go Drive ... I'd sell it cheap, but you'd need a Laptop (9mm thick) hard drive.

That sounds bulkier than what I'm after...I need something that I can stick in my bag (along with the other 20 pounds of crap I take to class every Tuesday) and plug into the classroom computer for my lectures.

And, if it lasts a year, well, that's probably cheaper than what I'd spend on cd's to move data in the same period of time.
