I offer for your amusement this pattern, from the current issue of Knit1. It's one of those "young and hip" knitting mags that are popping up lately (Translate "young and hip" to "it'll be sooo out of fashion by the time you finish knitting it that you don't dare wear it, but you'll look very cool while you're knitting it".) Most of the mag's offerings did not impress me in the slightest, but this....were I wealthy enough to buy that much novelty yarn, and did I have enough time to spend on somethign large and silly, I might knit that. It'd be fun on the sofa.

I can't imagine knitting *anything* with 48 skeins of Lion Brand Fun Fur... but good on them for having the hunk to model it with! And whether he can knit or not, at least he's holding his huge needles and ultra-chunky yarn right.

Well, if you went to discountyarnsale.com, that would take 16 bags (3 skeins per bag), at $11.25/bag, or $180. Cheaper than Walmart, but damn, I could spend less than that and get a nice sheepskin rug at Costco.

Have you seen that issue of the magazine? I wanna know who they think is going to wear that stuff, especially the menswear. I'm sorry, most of the guys I know, gay or straight, have better taste.

Heck, that was my opinion of everything but Interweave Knits this winter. Spent 20 minutes at the magazine rack last night, paging through stuff wondering what in the world the editors were thinking.

Well ya know, Interweave IS one of the better mags ;) I kinda like the hunky guy too, but I'm with you. I'd rather have the sheepskin rug!

Can you knit me one of those? (and by those I mean the hunk in the picture).

Youknow, for $200 you can get an actual bearskin.

I don't really need the hunk either....

A bit on the young and pretty side for my taste. Decorative, but I want someone I can talk to afterwards.
