Job listing still not posted yet. Donna said it may not be until late today or tomorrow.

She also told me that I've (somewhat worrisome) competition already: the gal who's teaching herbaceous ornamentals heard about the job, and is really interested. And Donna's half afraid that her boss might give it to that lady, because it'd keep her around as an instructor. Which Donna would be really pissed about, but there wouldn't be much she could do. Guess it depends on exactly who is on the selection committee (it'll be Donna, and her boss, and one other person), and whether or not Donna's boss gets veto power over the committee's choice.

**deep breath**

She also told me that that lady can't get down on her hands and knees and do things (gal's over 50, that's not surprising), which is a big strike against her--this is a work in the garden all summer job. (We'll just not mention how arthritic I get in Jan and Feb.) And Donna's not sure that this lady can take the summer heat, or lift the required 60 pounds (dunno why it's a requirement, because they don't check it, and people lie), but she's seen me lift that and more, so....

AND!!! I just got off the phone with Dr S, who's head of the KSU Research & Extension facility in DeSoto, and he said he'd give me "a glowing recommendation", and also "campaign vigorously to Dr G" on my behalf. And that's a BIG deal, because Dr S is the person who says whether stuff's accredited with KSU or not, at least for hort, and he's on the advisory board for the hort program here.

**crosses fingers**

Have I mentioned that the waiting is getting to me?

Oh, and would this be listed as an Administrative, Instructional, or Hourly position?

Hourly.

And yes, I've checked the jobs listing site. About every two hours, all day.

I'm sure you have ;-)

*hugs* I know, you know, Donna knows, and even Dr. S knows, the job is made for you. Don't worry, you will get it. (even though we won't be mentioning the arthritis in the cold months)

Of course Donna knows that--she wrote the durn specs with me in mind!

(And I am hoping that the arthritis is better, should I have an inside job this winter.)

Thanks. I know you've been really busy. Speaking of busy, you guys have plans for Labor Day? If not, give me a holler. [livejournal.com profile] c3fyn and [livejournal.com profile] nimawae had an idea this weekend.

Well, we're not going to Laid Back this year, or just day-tripping on Sunday, so we thought about hanging out at the house and consuming roasted animal flesh. If you're this far north, hon, you're invited, of course.

well, if I get paid for my troubles today, I could score plane tix up there for $221 plus tax of hotwire.com ;-) gas alone would be $182 at today's prices to drive, not counting the 10 hours each way...

Hadn't heard from you in a while, was wondering how that was going for him. I'll keep thinking good job thoughts for him, too. And thanks, sweetie.
