The Sock Report: ripped out the heel and gusset on the feather and fan sock I'm making for myself, and redid it as a short-row heel, because I couldn't remember how to do a strong heel. Must look that up one of these days. That sock, and T's kilt hose, are on today's knitting menu.

The UnSock Report: didn't get much done last night. Another 4 rows on the butterfly shawl, with 4 left before I start the edgings. I guess that's more done than it sounds...now that I think about it, the rows on that thing are ove 100" across now. Ok, I made progress.

Planning Projects Ahead: By liked the idea of doing lacy camisoles to match the knitted thongs I made myself, so I priced laceweight yarns last night. I haven't had a problem with the wools the couple of times I've worn them, so I'll probably go with that--easier to find, and cheaper. I'm eyeing Knitpick's Shadow, in either "jewels" or "grape jelly", Knitpick's Gossamer (the same yarn, really, just painted fancier), in either "sweet peas" or "blue jeans", or some of the lovelies from Handpainted Yarns.

Shadow is $2.29/440 yds. Gossamer runs a little more, $3.79/440 yds. The laceweight yarns from Handpainted Yarns run $5.99/850 yds. What's also tempting is Knitpick's Paint Your Own laceweight....undyed merino, at $3.49/880 yds. It wouldn't be that hard to dye a larger batch, nor would it be that hard to dye something close to the muted blues and purples of that first batch.

I will ponder it some more. Maybe I'll talk myself into trying more than one of those yarns, since Cat and I are looking into a knit-along of the peacock feather shawl this fall.
