The tasty-looking gingerish thing I refered to in the pitiful post looks like it might be Ctenanthe lubbersiana, probably cv "Golden Mosaic". (Pic here.)
Some of the sites I've been able to find on it say part to full shade, likes heat, and lots of water. And only hardy to about 40 degrees F. Oh, and I guessed wrong. Maranta family, not ginger.

Date: 2005-06-03 09:24 pm (UTC)The grapevine says you might know a Judi, who sells woodwinds in Leavenworth. Due to details the grapevine was fuzzy on, (Isn't mold really bad for grapes?) I wanted to ask if you had any reason I might prefer not to patronize her.
Thanks.

Date: 2005-06-03 11:30 pm (UTC)Can't think of any reason not to patronize her, just not inclined to play with that ensemble anymore, and that had very little to do with her. (You might not want to mention that last bit...)
And yes, mold is very bad for grapes. Copper sulfate fixes it, though.

Date: 2005-06-05 06:33 pm (UTC)I appreciate the rest, though the mold comment was a humorous aside. Found the precise name involved - "Judi's Woodwind Repair", in case you were curious. For myself, I'll assume that any memory that isn't bright and brilliant isn't a good reason not to give her a chance.
Thanks!
