May. 11th, 2005 11:47 amHad a long post mostly typed before breakfast this morning, then New Boss came in, and I foolishly closed the browser window, so I could yell at him* without the added distraction. *sigh* It's been one of those mornings.
Instead of working on the list I'd left for her, apparently it was more important to New Boss that Courtney work on the stuff The Other Dave left undone on inner campus. I am half a week further behind this morning than I was when I left Sat afternoon, and am much cranky because of it.
Had a productive weekend. Slept late after Cat's dinner Sat night, got up and gardened. Got three shrubs and a pile of daylilies moved just as it started to rain Sunday afternoon. Poor By spent the afternoon at the HSA meeting, where there was apparently much excitement. (I'm going to have to track down a couple of people and ask for the full story, since something happened before the meeting that wasn't discussed *during* the meeting.) Spent Monday shopping with Cat, which was a pleasant day full odf girlishness. I don't get to indulge that side of my nature very often. Got a nice pair of capri pants, a sleeveless linen top, and a neat green silk gauze blouse. Went shoe shopping but resisted temptation.
Donna called Monday evening, looking for a home for a white ferret that Jerry's granddaughter foud outside her apartment complex; Cat was still at our place, so we both went over to see it. Cat and Donna both though someone dumped it; it was friendly and obviously used to being handled.
The Sock Report: Finished and delivered the green and yellow Turkish socks; Ranj really likes them, I'm told. Started on By's kilt hose Monday evening, and have the first sock done up to the gusset shaping (I'm doing these toe-up, figured it'd be easier to get the leg shaping done that way). I wasn't thinking when I picked the front cable...it's one I designed, a take-off of what I did on my aran sandal sock, and it's got a 32-rnd repeat. Kinda hard to memorize, but the crossings are fairly easy to read. Need to start thinking about how I'm going to handle the cables in the leg shaping, and come up with a pattern for the fold-over top. Or do dress kilt hose have the fold-over tops? I should look that up.
*Yelling at New Boss = telling him to his face that no help is better than his help. (Doesn't matter too much, I told Maint Supervisor the same thing about an hour later, and he opined that, given the lack of maps of the tree trail and the need to get things watered out there, I might be right.) There was more than that, but that's what it boiled down to. Unfortunately, he thought I was just refering to the tree watering, and not to his performance in general.
