May. 4th, 2005 06:56 amI'm beginning to hate spring. Or maybe not spring in general, maybe it's just April and May. I'm always glad to see March and the end of winter, but April starts a long string of too much to get done this year, family obligations that conflict with work and the little time I have to spend with my friends, and bad memories.
This weekend, for instance. There's a pile of stuff to be done at home in the yard, but HSA stuff got done first (Sat night) because it's got a deadline. Then company Sunday, and a semi-necessary trip to Lawrence for knitting needles and fabric to finish projects. Monday I helped Donna in the greenhouse--again, she had a deadline, and the yard can wait a little longer. Yesterday, I didn't have the energy or motivation to do much yard work. I did off the hook for the family reunion that's being held in Beverly, KS in two weeks, since it's (a) cousins who're my dad's generation and at least 15 years older than I am and (b) who I've not seen sinceI was 3 or 4.
And that's been the story of my life since mid-March.
By's folks called Sunday evening. There's a guy in Neosho who used to keep cattle at the farm, and who still keeps an eye on the place, and he found someone to rent the house. This means we have to get the furniture we want out of there as soon as possible (!!!) I love my inlaws, but their timing sucks.
The Sock Report: still working on those socks for myself. Got half the leg on the second one done Sat evening after the registration entering party. And I finished the body of the second green and yellow Turkish sock Sunday evening, and picked up stitches for the first heel. Because I spent a good chunk of the day cuddling a sick cat, I didn't manage to finish that heel. Hopefully I will tonight.
The UnSock Report: Kiri is 32" at center back, lightly stretched. I think I'm going to finish this pattern repeat and start the edging, to finish it off. It's probably big enough. That ought to leave me with enough yarn left over to do that lace scarf from the Spring '05 Knitty.
