I'm sitting in the office at the show, watching a very large spider* scurry around in a clear plastic box. It's in the box because I was trying to ID the sucker--some large wolf spider is my best guess. Found the thing on the top of the last load of mulch I spread today, right as I jumped in the back to start shovelling it out. Being who I am, I promptly toss it in a bag that was behind the seat of the truck, and take it back to the shop to show it to all the guys. (Some of whom, it must be noted, have a less-than-masculine appreciation for large spiders. It's quite disappointing. The part-time painter guy actually squeaked, scooted away from the table, and said "don't point that thing at me!")

I think I'm going to leave it on the desk for Shop Steward to find on Monday. He also has a less-than-masculine appreciation for spiders**.

*Large spider = body length 1.5", leg spread is probably as wide as the palm of my hand. I've held smaller mice. It's a very cool spider.

**By this, I mean he squeaks like a girl, and runs out of the room. Yes, I'm mean. Sue me.

Edit: The Other Dave just informed me that spiders aren't supposed to be that big, and that there is something very wrong with people who keep them as pets. I still think it's a cool spider.

Edit #2: New Boss has NO sense of humor. As we were leaving the shop this afternoon, he expressly forbade me from leaving Mr 8-Legs (and his box) in the office, despite my assertions that there were worse places for Shop Steward to find the package. Like Mr 8-Legs running loose in the desk. Or in the bathroom. New Boss failed to follow my logic. So, bowing to the letter of authority, Mr 8-Legs (and his box) were resting comfortably in front of the microwave in the outer area of the shop. (Hey, it's not in the office!)

kinda reminds me of that time when our cat brought in an injured bird from outside and layed it on the bed. All T could do was flap his arms around screaming "it's getting vermon on the sheets!". I almost died laughing at him. and don't even get me started on the gigantic roach in the coke can... hahahhahaha!

**blinks** That's a heck of a mental picture to start the day out with.

By's pretty good about most things, but you should have seen him whtn the large garter snake showed up in the kitchen a couple of summers ago. No idea how it got in the house, but there it was. Baggins had it cornered against the cabinets and was merrily playing with it, because in his worldview, that's what snakes are for--self animated string. The tall man was not amused.
