Got to slow down, relax, and finish projects this weekend.

I did, anyway. By was off doing salvage things more of the weekend than he'd planned originally, with only Monday off to work on the bar stuff for Richard. He ended up doing salvage yesterday, too. Albert called Robyn yesterday morning, saying they had to get all the usable stuff out of the first building he's been working in, and only had one day to do it, because the construction folks were ready to bull-doze the place. Oops. So By got to rent a U-Haul and fill it with really long cedar beams, and haul them out to her property. Robyn will have a nice barn and cabin eventually.

Had a nice afternoon and evening Sunday with classics_cat and ranjtheobscure. She knitted, and they kept me company while I finished the last few temari for the gift box for Robyn. (Done!) We went to Larrytown, had a nice dinner at Jade, and hit a couple of bookstores. Note to self: those two do NOT count as adult supervision in bookstores.

Got 8 plug trays of basil planted Monday at the greenhouse. For the curious, one plug tray = 200 plugs; that's a lot of basil. Fourteen different kinds, nothing exotic this year. I was still feeling off kilter, so I didn't stay too long. Donna almost needs someone there all day Mondays, especially since her help is leaving and is even lazier than usual, these last days.

Second note to self: reading anything by Lois Lowry just before bed, while under the influence of Nyquil, results in REALLY WEIRD dreams. Don't do that again.

The Sock Report: didn't get any knitting done on socks over the weekend, but did get to show ranjtheobscure his yellow and green Turkish socks. He approves of the design, so off we go on that. (Good thing, I'd hate to have to frog it all out and rework it.)


The UnSock Report: Because I finished the box of several dozen temari, I got to reward myself with a new project Monday: the Sea Breeze vest out of the latest issue of Knitter's. I'm working it in the leftover mohair loop from my Fenna shawl, I think there'll be enough. And I've got a ball of Berrocco Suede, in a brighter melon shade, that could go in as an accent, or front borders, or something. I've got a while to decide; I'm about 3" into this project.

And since I finished Clapotis yesterday afternoon (finally!), I rewarded myslef by starting another Accident Dress. I've had the cone of cotton yarn for it forever, a light yellow. Rather than a loose ribbing hem, I'm doing a few inches of feather and fan, in lavender and rose (because what else am I going to do with one 2.5-oz ball of each?). Going to try and refine the shaping a bit more, give the dress some waist and bust shaping, rather than the simple tent-dress the other turned out to be. (The first one is comfy, I want this one to be decorative.) Once again, I've got a while to think on it. Only got 6" done last night on this.

You know what's really pitiful? I'd have had Clapotis finished DAYS earlier, except I misjudged where to start decreasing for the final point of hte rectangle, and had to rip it back and try again. Twice. Argh. So, I knitted the last foot of that scarf a total of 3 times.

I'm trying to decide how I'm going to do the decreases in the dress this time. What I did on the first dress worked, but I'd rather something more um...well, just something better. I'm up for suggestions if you have bright ideas. I won't be at that point for a week or so, at least.


Haven't tried a knitted lettuce edge. Ought to look that up. Would be cute, though.
