By's boss gets back from her trip sometime today, I think, so he's putting in a full day at work today. He had a short weekend, since he had to go in yesterday and check on things, and wait most of Friday afternoon for a package delivery.

We decided not to head to the farm over the weekend. Between the cold here, and the weather reports of flooding there....We need to do it soonish, though. By's folks have had one offer (not too serious, they say) for the farm already. So they want us to pay attention when we're down there, see what realty companies are active down there.

By got the external hard drive installed on the machine Sat, and we spent Sat and Sun moving our respective collections of stuff off the C drive to the external. The C drive went from less than a gig free, to over 7, and is much happier. (I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that a fair chunk of what went on the external drive was my collection of knitting and crochet patterns. I had no idea I'd amassed 4 gig worth.)

The UnSock Report: I've spent my long weekend diving into my UFO bins and working on long-unfinished things.

Sunday, I made myself finish the second cuff for The Sweater (3 inches of corrugated ribbing, blech). Didn't start the sleeve proper, but the nasty part is done. Been working on the body of that sweater. I've finished 20 or so rounds of the tile pattern (one tile's worth, plus a good start on the next), and the body part of The Sweater is now almost 13" deep. More than halfway to the armpits!

Pulled out the Origami Kimono as a reward for finishing that stupid cuff. (Note to self: don't use that much corrugated ribbing again!) Once again, this sweater seemed to be using a frightful amount of yarn without gaining much, so I pulled it off the needles and measured it (again). So, once again, I frogged it and started over. This time, I took the gauge I've been getting on the silly thing, and adjusted the numbers for that. We'll see if it works this time. I've got 3 1/2" done so far. Blech. If I'd had the gauge done right the first time, this thing would be done.

Repeat after me. 4 gigs of patterns is a good start. 4 gigs of patterns is a good start...

:-)

Now that we're getting the new 'puter set up, I'll have space to start amassing a collection of my own! Although I keep seeing sales on those little USB flash drives. If I got one of those, I could carry it with me and save patterns wherever I was! Hmmm..... or, I could spend the money on more yarn, and continue to print out patterns that interest me. Yes, yes... that's the way to go. More yarn... yessssss... :-)

Speaking of more yarn, you need to go here, and click on their "house" brand of yarn. Check out the prices on alpaca. Well, actually, check out all the prices. One of the ladies on my knitting list says that they get their yarn from the same mill that makes the Peruvian Highland brand that elann.com sells, so it's good stuff.
