My friend D spent the last two weeks out of state, taking care of her terminally ill (and very elderly) mother. She got home last night, around 9, to find her husband on the floor, 2 days dead. Heart attack was the first guess for cause of death.
She's got someone with her today, so I'll bake so she has things to feed the people who'll be coming over, and not have to fuss, and go sit with her tomorrow and Monday.
I must admit, my first, uncharitable thought is that now she can garden wherever she wants, and keep her plants in the house, and all those things he kept her from doing.
In the not-so-dire news, we've had heavy storms two nights in a row. We lost one smallish tree and the backyard shade tent the first night, but no other damage. Our friends that are out at camp have had an exciting time. And the forecast for today is a good chance for more severe storms by midafternoon, and some tonight.
Took The Miss in for a speech and development screening yesterday morning. She didn't cooperate with the screeners, so she's been labelled "delayed". Which bothers me some, but the label should get her into HeadStart or the preschool run by the local school district, so.....
By's got some side projects coming in, and a steady customer, which is cheering. And now that it's cooled off, we're trying to make time to work on the house.
