Took the kids all over creation today, and now, I am the only person in my house not sleeping. Even the cats are snoring at me.

To Big Lots, for a new trash can and some groceries and to see if they had the all-silicon caulk that By's looking for. Also found yarn for a couple of Yule gifts, and fabric (cheap!) for some doll clothes.

To Lowes, for chain saw parts, and to price silicon caulk and the solvent that goes with it. (Caulk is cheap, solvent is not as much.) Got two boxes of hyacinths for the garden while we were there. City of Harlem is a pale creamy yellow, and Gipsy Queen is a warm, slightly rosy orange. I even know where I'll plant them!

To renfest, to pick up By's check for working Highland Games weekend. Which wasn't ready, so the gal in the office gave him food coupons and told him to treat himself to lunch. So we grabbed lunch, and walked around and said hi to people, and enjoyed mochas. Spent $4 on tickets for the swings for the kids, totally worth it, and there are pictures. Will have to do that again next weekend. Also grabbed turkey legs to go on the way out--2 in the fridge for dinner, 2 in the freezer for later. And we still have food books for next weekend.

The Miss walked through Big Lots, rode in the cart at Lowes, and walked renfair. Which is a lot of walking for a little girl. I'm hoping that she'll go down easier at bedtime tonight.

Yesterday, I took the kids to D's for part of the day so By could work on the house. He got the old bay window taken out of the living room, and temporary plywood put in until he could get its replacement framed in. But it's a start. I brought the monsters home at naptime, and we all puttered outside post-nap. I got the rest of the arborvitaes planted to replace the dead pines. And I planted three curly willows on the north side of the arborvitaes, because (a) the person I'd made the cuttings for never came for them 2 years ago, and (b) they really needed planted somewhere, and (c) they'll make at least a screen there, reasonably quickly. And then it's rained off and on all day, so the new stuff got watered in good.
