A full weekend/progress
Oct. 5th, 2010 10:15 amSaturday and Sunday, By went out to renfest and helped put on the Highland Games. No people broken this time, just equipment. Much more easily fixed.
Yesterday, he got three of the dead pines cut down, and parts of them cut for firewood for this winter. That cleared enough space for me to plant some of their replacements--three 'Emerald Green' arborvitae. There are two left to plant, but I've got to move some piles of branches first. And while I was clearing spaces to plant, I also pulled oodles of that @#($* honeysuckle that's colonizing the hedgerow. Damn stuff.
My cannas and elephant ears are dug and on the deck drying before I bring them in for the winter. That was hard to do; they still looked great, but it *is* October, and October is sneaky around here.
Last night after the kids crashed, I finished sewing on a doll dress, except for the seam up the back and the lace hem edging, which I'm still crocheting. Just for the record, set-in sleeves scaled for a 6.25" tall doll are a huge, hairy, stinky pain. But adorable once finished. Also finished a knit, smocked-yoke pullover for a second doll, who now needs pants. That's worked in #8 perle cotton and #000 needles, and looks quite spiff, except for the no-pants thing.
No sock knitting to report. I haven't fixed the mess from the last two time The Bug got hold of that project and started playing with my needles.
I've finished what would have been the fourth clue on the 22 Leaves Shawl, and am into the second row of add-on leaves. I think I'm looking at 5 rows of leaves to finish--two more regular leaves, then the big leaves with little ones between as in clue 5.
So far today, I have:
packed lunch and breakfast for the husband and sent him off to work
loaded and started the dishwasher
mixed up dough for danishes and put them in the fridge to "work" (for assembly late this evening, the dough has to sit for 12 hrs)
set the kids up with cheerios for breakfast
washed the dishes that wouldn't fit in the dishwasher
And now I'm going to indulge in a bit of knitting, children permitting, until it's warmer outside. The plan is to run the kids around until they're silly, and maybe stack some firewood if they'll let me.
