Yes, it's long, but it really is the summary, honest.

The Good:
* Some quality time being a bum, and doing some projects just for fun.
* Sunday's HSA meeting was less drama-filled than it could have been, and that's all kinds of good.
* Went book shopping after Sunday's HSA meeting, and scores a book of granny suqare patterns (because I'm sure I needed more of those, right?) and a book of really cute crocheted dolls (I've made two--with clothes--already), an Ofra Haza cd, and the 2-cd set of the original cast recording of Phantom of the Opera. I <3 Half Price Books.
* I've got half a pattern repeat until the ribbing starts on one of T's kilt hose, and maybe 4 pattern repeats left on the other. That's all kinds of good news. They will take all six skeins, but I'd planned for that.
* There was just enough light during the talks at today's conference to knit, so the sock-in-progress went from just past the toes to halfway through the heel shaping. And that's very cool, because that project has sat in a basket since before renfest.
* There was a brand-new, virgin and shiny Plant Delights catalog on every chair in the room for the morning talk (by the owner of that company). And that talk was fantastic--try to imagine Bill Engvall talking about marketing plants and putting the fun back in gardening. CG, who teaches woody plants here, was all offended 'cuz the guy kept talking about plant sex, and using sexy plants (aka ones with showy or weird flowers) to market gardening. CG lacks a sense of humor.

The Bad:
* Had to get up early (for a Sunday morning, anyway) and go to the HSA meeting.
* Had some allergy problems last week, and now my sinuses are trying to back up into my ears, so my ears hurt and I've been cranky for days.
* One of the yarns Mouse gave me for Xmas only did one and a half stripes on the stole I'm working on, so I've got to go find more. It's a fuzzy yarn; I'm hoping dyelot differences won't show very much.
* I've got to stay late on Thursday night for faculty inservice stuff. Forgot that all that nonsense applies to me, now.
* College Blvd, at 7:45am.

The Ugly:
* College Blvd in the snow, just after lunch rush

And Worse, The Dramatic (family stuff) )

Sis called just as I walked in the door tonight. Grandma got home from the hospital around midnight last night. The docs say she had pulled or torn a muscle in her chest. She says she has no idea how it happened, she didn't do anything, honest. Which is typical for my grandmother--stubbornly attempting things beyond her reach or condition (she's 80, and about 4'8" these days.)

And, for those wise enough to not read under the cut on my last post--my uncle took my grandmother tot he hospital yesterday evening for chest pain. They thought it was a heart attack initially, then said it could be any one of six things. Thankfully, it turned out to be the mildest of those things.

Whew.

* Getting compliments on the necklace that [livejournal.com profile] tristan_knight made for me for Yule. (Thank you again, sweetie.)
* Warm ground, so the snow and sleet didn't stick to the roads during rush hour.
* Following the salt truck halfway home, which made me feel more secure.
* Green tea with lemon.
* A warm dinner of toasted garlic bread with hummus and feta.
* My grandmother, not as ill as we'd feared last night.
* Being half done with an old knitting UFO.
* Staying late for inservice meetings on Thursday has been sweetened by the facts that (a) they provide dinner, and (b) I'll get adjunct pay for it (which is $26.50/hr).
* With everything else that's gone on the past week, or will go on in the next few days, I get tonight and tomorrow night to catch my breath.
