I offer for your amusement this pattern, from the current issue of Knit1. It's one of those "young and hip" knitting mags that are popping up lately (Translate "young and hip" to "it'll be sooo out of fashion by the time you finish knitting it that you don't dare wear it, but you'll look very cool while you're knitting it".) Most of the mag's offerings did not impress me in the slightest, but this....were I wealthy enough to buy that much novelty yarn, and did I have enough time to spend on somethign large and silly, I might knit that. It'd be fun on the sofa.

General update
Dec. 20th, 2005 08:44 amAs opposed to yesterday's update, which was only a colonel....
I need a nap. That's not news, but it's starting to make me a tad silly. Three days to go (counting today), and then I get my nap.
Yesterday was mostly uneventful. Robyn was well-behaved towards By; he said she didn't say anything to him but business. She did make a few comments about needing to re-learn how to do some things, because she hadn't done some processes in years. And she asked him to show the office girl how to string the willow-bead necklaces, since he's the one who figured out the easy way to do that. I think it's starting to hit, what she's losing.
Donna and I were bad yesterday afternoon: we snuck out and ran down to Borders, to use up our 30% off coupons. I left there with the current issues of Interweave Knits and Piecework, Wrap Style by Pam Allen, and a Yule gift for one of my friends.
Got home last night to find a small stck of boxes on the deck: the yearly delivery of almond toffee from my great aunt and uncle in Colorado, and two boxes of pressies from By's folks. Which we opened, because thigns might get damaged in shipping, and you've got to check that, right? I got sock yarn, and new needle gauge, and a nifty blue poncho that I'm guessing By's mom made. Not sure how fashionable it'll look on me, but it's comfy, and that's all I really care about. By got a pair of jeans, and a gift certificate to the Evil Empire (tm) (Walmart), because his dad couldn't find the type of work pants By ahd asked for. And socks...lots of heavy work socks, which is good, because I've been throwing away the bad ones, and he's running out. And we had one package that was labelled to both of us, Vol 10 of Weldon's Practical Needlework, plus two issues of Inspirations magazine. Not sure how much good those will do By, but I certainly enjoy them. (Not sure how much "good" they do me, really, I don't need that much more temptation to add to my pile of projects.)
