The radio just said it was 9 degrees, with a wind chill of -8. Brrrr. I got the Lopi sweater finished just in time.

After the present-finishing yesterday, the kittens think that their names are "Nooooo! Not the string!" and "Fuzzy little bastard!" It's no wonder they've grown up strange, with that being what they hear all day.

Went Xmas shopping yesterday, to finish up. Wrapping supplies, a couple of things for By, and Cat, and Ranj, and meee! (By let me buy my own Xmas presents this year. Look out, world.) Got it all wrapped, too. Did get the stuff for By's folks wrapped and in the box, which isn't mailed yet. I need to call them and let them know that's not going to get mailed until Monday, at the earliest. Good thing they're used to that from us.

Sometime today I need to pack, or start, at least. Whenever the laundry is done. Oh, and I need to wrap the groceries we bought for Grandma.

Mom had fun news last night on the phone--my great-uncle Virgil got married last week. That's my paternal grandfather's youngest brother, I think the only brother still alive; his first wife died Sept 1990. I guess he's been spending a lot of time with a local widow, about his age, and she went with him to Florida for the holidays, to see his kids there. And he called a week after he got there, and said they'd gotten married, a complete surprise to everyone. Very very cute.

I'd planned to finish a tatted applique for a pincushion for Mom, and get it sewn on. Turns out the fabric I'd picked was something we'd dyed, years ago, and it rubbed off on my hands and on the tatting. So now I've got to unpick that, and wash the lace (and overdye it if the green doesn't come off), and either wash the fabric and start over, or just flat start over. I may just start over. The original had been a bit large for a pincushion, even for a quilter.

I need to go back and find Frank, see if he's showered yet. He came in and asked me to turn off the washer just after I'd started it, saying he was going to hop in the shower quick. Which always means he'll get distracted, and an hour later still hasn't showered, and my laundry could have been done. (I sit corrected. He turned it back on when he went back to bed "to warm up a bit". But that means I can't put the other load in until he gets up and gets his shower, and I can't wash my hair until he's done.)

We did have a talk with Frank last night, since he doesn't seem to be in a hurry to start getting his stuff out of the house. Nor does he seem to be in a hurry to get his stuff out of By's way in the garage. We shall see what progress has been made when we get back from Mom's. He's got out timetable, I don't know what more we can do. Our timetable isn't arbitrary, we're trying to work around a lot of things, like By's parent's schedule with the farm, and his projects at work. And we did explain that. I don't know.
