Last night's performance didn't go too badly, only a couple of embarassing spots going through songs we hadn't rehearsed at all. I really wish Betty would book dates so close together, especially when they involve complete changes of music.

Had a bit of a chat with a young lady of Betty's acquaintance, never did catch her name. Betty was trying to talk her into learning to knit...she wants to, but is stuck at the "it looks hard" hurdle, even though she's been buying yarn to handle and feel already. That's a serious knitting addict just begging to learn, I say. Anyway, Betty drug her over to me to see what could be done besides the novelty yarn scarves that were on sale at the gift show--I had on my grey alpaca and wool socks, and the Stonington shawl, and had my fingerless gloves and a scarf in my recorder basket. I think we at least tempted her with the possibilities.

I was ssurprised and disappointed with the vendors at the gift show this year. Last year had some impressive beadwork and ceramics. There was one person selling beadwork, mostly stringing, nothing difficult; one ceramics person was back, but only with small things, and not much variety. There were
5! people selling novelty yarn knitted scarves for $35-$50 each, all what looked to be the "by this skein of yarn and knit until it's gone" style. Mrph. Two of the knitters had fingerless gloves, which must mean those are popular too, but those were also simple construction, big needles, and flashy yarn. One knitter had more impressive pieces to show besides the scarves, but I didn't look at her prices. Her big things were all in Noro, and I decided I didn't want to know.

Not much time to knit last night. I put buttons on a project so it could be delivered today, and packed a gift bag of late baby presents for that same delivery run (Byron's delivery service, woo hoo). Spent a little quality time last night on IM, and knitting on the Flower Basket Shaw.

I think today's going to be time spent hiding from or misdirecting the boss. I do have things I want to do today, and I plan on doing them, but I also plan on taking breaks in between. Right now, I'm waiting on By to get here; he's bringing the truck down to pick up some nice chunks of limestone I'd stashed on the tree trail.
