Or, from Sex Toy to Pirate Hand Puppet in two easy steps.....

Did get that faux fur mitt knitted up last night, even took it for a test drive, only to have it used against me. Squeeked, by my very own Byron, can you believe that? And then, when I complained, he folded a corner of the mitt over to imitate an eyepatch, mock-scowled at me, and drawled "yarrr". No more pirate movies just before bed for that man.

I've worried my coworkers today--walked in smiling (at 6am, even), and have been rather cheerful all day, despite having to deal with contractors and stupid architect stuff. J, my supervisor, is threatening to call By and tell him that we need to have sex more often, if I come into work this cheerful. Pervy hobbit sex two nights in a row, go me!

Courtney went home sick at lunch; she's only been getting 3-4 hrs sleep a night for over a week, between upset baby and dealing with the baby's father. Her new boyfriend, M, is encouraging her to go through the legal processes for either sole custody, or child support from the father, who has given her a grand total of $40 since she got pregnant, not babysat at all, and is generally making her life difficult. I offered to host a discussion between his kneecaps and a hammer, but she said she'd try the lawyers first. No one lets me have any fun.

There was a naked, 21-yr-old blonde man asleep in my bed when I got home from work today. (The rest of the evening, and various meanderings. May be TMI, and is definitely not work safe. You have been warned. )

Went to work, even though today should have been my day off for MLK day--I was supposed to be going to a meeting to work on the pre-bid package for the landscaping for the parking garage.

Found out at 9:30 this morning that the boss didn't think I needed to be there. Gee, thanks for the notice. I could have been at home, in bed with a blonde. I'm sorry, was that my inside voice speaking?

Moving on....

Ended up spending most of the morning working on the afore-mentioned pre-bid package, trying to come up with clear language describing exactly how I want the trees installed (not that I'm being petty, but it will make a huge difference in surviveability), both for the contractors, and for an explanation so my boss understands (I hope!!!) the import and actually puts the stuff in the package.

Spent the afternoon doing a tour of the tree trail for the sales lady at my favorite nursery--she wanted to visit the trees she's sold me the last couple of years. She seemed impressed overall, especially since she knows what I started with. Also had some good suggestions for some of the water-holding areas that are often too wet to mow (bald cypress and black alder, ooooooo, fun trees).

Came home, played with Pet, got him showered and fed and off to work on time, and now I'm enjoying the mellow part by myself, and listening to the cat snore. By's still at the HSA safety meeting; not sure when he'll be back.

Tomorrow will be indoor work, since it's supposed to be no more than 35 degrees for a high--I've been saving a researchish project for me and Courtney for just such an occasion. We're missing some of the ID signs from the tree trail, and the new boss wants to see more ID signs like those in inner campus, so Courtney and I are going to sit down with the list of trees we've generated, and get the stuff put together to send to the sign company. I plan to make it take a while.

Time to be off and in bed. Must be responsible and go to work tomorrow. Blech.
Good night all, and pleasant dreams.

There is no Sock Report today. Nor is there an UnSock Report today. I didn't knit a stitch all day. Which says how much Pet rates, now doesn't it? Not only that, but the new daylily catalog didn't get opened until the festivities were over and he was in the shower.
