Weekend Putterings
Jan. 20th, 2004 08:12 pm(Well, it's the end of the weekend for me, anyway. I pity the rest of the world that has to work on Mondays *grin*)
Got a little knitting done, a litte art done, a little cleaning done. Nowhere near what I'd planned to accomplish on any of them, but hey, it's a start.
Didn't get any more cd books put together, but I got a pile of pages drawn, and inked (outlines), and colored stained-glass-wise with colored pencil. Decided to scan in the drawings and use print-outs for the actual binding; By figured they'd last longer and look better in the long run than the colored pencil after it was folded a few times. Also got some black and white pen drawings done, nothing super fancy, but ought to make an interesting art book as a set.
Finished a pair of short Fireside sox for me while at work Sat. Kept having trouble with the cabled sox in the orange alpaca yarn; I think I'm just going to go back to my simpler toe-up pattern, where I'm already used to making adjustments for size and gauge, and will have less ripping out.
The Sweater is now at 5 1/4" deep, and the second border pattern is half done, and stunning. I keep putting it down to admire it and think, "gee, I made that!" That's great motivation for continuing to slog away on such an intenive project.
Started another project this morning. We were invited to a party at friends' house in April--J says of the theme: "Think Studio 54." Right. Nothing in my closet matches. SO....off to my pattern collection, where I find a nifty halter top with enough coverage (and possible even some support, although that's not altogether necessary for that crowd) for my ample cleavage. Um, for the knitting-endowed, "Cleo", from the summer 2003 issue of knitty. I'm doing it in a glossy ivory cabled cotton yarn, sport weight, #8 needles (so a minor adjustment in gauge, easy enough). It takes just over one 70-yd skein of the cotton to do one triangle for the bra top (and there are, naturally, two). Not sure how much the bottom part of the top will take, but it ought to clean out a good part of that shelf. And give me something groovy to wear to a party.
Got to go to bed early tonight--tomorrow is going to be busy. Pet called, and the plan is that he comes over here to crash tomorrow morning when he gets off work (something like 9am), so he'll be rested by the time I get home from work. A few hours for play time, and then he has to leave for work again. Freaky hobbit sex--go me!
Hmmm....if I were feeling really self-indulgent, I'd quick knit up that other skein of Bernat Eyelash I've got, and have a nice plush mitt to play with tomorrow night. And on that note....
