Color me virtuous
Nov. 15th, 2003 09:17 pmI didn't buy a single thing on our "scout the new (to us) yarn store" expedition. Not that I didn't think about it, mind you, and not that
classics_cat didn't try to rememdy that fact, but I did resist.
Barely. It was very hard putting down the lovely handpainted merino sock wool that wanted to come home with me.
The concert this morning went ok. More of a "background noise" sort of arrangement than a concert, fairly sparse attendance (I'd expected more, from what Betty had said). We ended up sightreading (on request) a bunch of German Christmas carols for a lady who stood there a listened for a while; some were really neat, and not too hard, we only botched one, and she forgave that. We were disorganized--no real play list, still hadn't decided who was playing which line on various songs....I'm told that Betty's more organized sometimes. It was fun anyway.
Found a cake-decorating shop in 4th St in Leavenworth (Anniecakes, neat place, neat people) and got the anise flavoring and black dye for the coal candy, and some edible glitter for the honey dust. That's what I'll be doing tomorrow. On the Kansas City shopping trip, we stopped at House of Hezekiah and got the damiana I need to make a special version of the honey dust, as well as extra vanilla powder for it.
Got to show off the Round Trip sweater to
classics_cat this afternoon, even though I'm still weaving in ends. It looked good on her, too, except for the sleeves being 4" too short. (Gee, fancy that...) I think I might have hooked her on the pattern.....
I think I know what I'm going to do with the practice piece of the modular knit rectangles. I had this idea for a tunic-length kimono jacket, a bit oversized in the body, with short sheeves, and a wide solid colored edging around the ends of the sleeves, bottom of the jacket, and neck/front opening. The picture in my mind is very cool, I think I can knit it, and I have plenty of shades-of-brown stash to use up. Might have to get a skein or two of a particular color for the edging bands, but I won't need that for a while yet.
By's off working on whips again. Got most of the second one done, which will finish off the "absolutely have to get done before Thurs" list of props. He's been trying to figure out the logistics of braiding around a pitchfork handle, as a prop for the show....not sure how that's going to work yet, or if it will get done in time.
