Oct. 25th, 2003 05:49 amI really do know better than to stay up until 12:30 on a work night, but the knitting was going so well, I'd just lost track of time.
Went to Stan and Myrna's after work yesterday for a visit and more pears. Stan was very happy to see me. I don't think Myrna's happy about anything right now, poor thing. Stan's gotten even thinner. But he seemed to be having an up day, and stayed outside for 45 minutes and helped me pick up pears, and talked about plants. His roses are astonishing, in full bloom and rich colors. The gerberas are still in full bloom too--he's the only person I know who can make those things look good.
Anyway, I came home with 3 5-gal buckets, and 2 smaller buckets of pears. And a couple buckets (and one bag) of black walnuts, which are for Donna to feed her baby squirrel. There will be more pear butter this weekend.
The Sock Report: because the forecasted rain did not materialize yesterday afternoon, I watered trees and knitted all afternoon. I'm a little more than halfway through the leg stripes on the Timber Frame socks (that's 3 or 3 1/2" done on the leg), and expect to get up to the ribbing on those today. Maybe more. I don't feel like working.
The Unsock Report: after pear-picking and car-unloading and showering, I settled into my chair last night with the RoundTrip sweater and the Fellowship of the Rings DVD and the phone. I finished the edging and got about 2" done on the right side (front, back, and sleeve, all one piece), and Woody kept me company on the phone through most of it. Would have done a lot more if I hadn't got up to check the time. As it was, I toddled off to bed about 10 minutes before By got home.
I'd thought ahead last night, and made my sandwich and all before I went to bed, so it'd be quick for me to put together this morning. But bless his heart, By got up when I did, started my car, and tossed it all in my lunchbox for me. Isn't that sweet?
