Grrrr. I've already typed this once, and it all disappeared when I hit the backspace button. I hate it when that happens.

We had a good time at Fest yesterday. We were afraid it would be very crowded, because the front parking lots were full almost to the road when we got there, but it wasn't so bad inside.

[livejournal.com profile] draco_kc, James says hello, and wants to know if you still exist, or if you're just a figment of your computer's imagination.

The chess match was hilarious. Picture the chess pieces fighting WWF-style battles over possession of the squares, complete with tricks and dirty moves from teammates. Not at all sure who won, but it was funny.

Wished I'd taken the time to stop Madame Red and ask for a better look at the bright red, fuzzy wrap she was wearing. It looked very cool from a distance, and I bet I could knit something like it.

Shopping? Of course we went shopping. With a list, because we're semi-organized people now. (I hear some of you laughing. Stop that.)

By wanted, and found, a nice thick fox tail for a toy he wants to make for the anual show--sort of a fox tail flogger.

I'd been looking for more of the perfume I like (found), and a nice purse to carry when I'm being dressy. Didn't find anything that really fit what I was looking for, although I saw a few things that tempted me. Didn't see any hair ornaments that really called out to me this year. Seems like more of the merchants are going to smaller, more juvenile stuff, as if only little girls and teens where their hair long enough to need such things now. Mrrph.

I'd hoped to find a bodice at Tiggers that fit, but his were all cut too long in the waist and shoulders for me. I did find a nice one at a stall up near main gate. Those ladies had a wider size range available, and were quite willing to stand there and lace you into their wares until they found the right one, although the gal that helped me got my size right on first guess. The bodice I bought is a mostly burgundy stripe on one side, and reverses to a smooth black.

When we got home last night, I put on one of my old SCA chemises, and had By lace me into the new bodice. Very nice, lots and lots of cleavage. Now I just need to make that burgundy broadcloth we bought last fall into a nice chemise, and I'll be set for the annual show.

AND!!!! I found Pet, just before we left site, and reminded him he was welcome to stop at our place for dinner and relaxation. (He left about 6:30 this morning, still yawning and clutching his breakfast. Poor dear had to be to work at 8, and had a 90-min drive ahead of him. And yes, for the record, I did let him sleep. Some.)

[livejournal.com profile] classics_cat came over and borrowed our washer last night; it was good to see her. I'm waiting to hear how rude she's going to be about Pet's visit last night. There was much giggling from the living room when I opened the bedroom door and tossed out first Bats (the black kitten), then Fuzz a few minutes later. By says both cats looked very indignent.

Sometime today, I think we're doing shopping. Cat food, some stuff for Robyn, groceries, and a stop at a needlework store for more of the gold braid I just ran out of, about 70% through a temari. But By's still asleep, so that will wait.

I just looked down at what I was wearing and laughed. Call it hippy eclectic this morning: the blue-and-purple painted dress I did this summer, my blue star Turkish socks, and the blue-and-teal-and-purple knitted shawl I did this summer. The styles don't quite mesh.

I'd like to say I got dressed in the dark, and that's the reason, but I did in fact pick each of these garments intentionally.

Just distracted this morning, I guess.

One of the joys of having my own house is that I can leave slightly naughty poems on the fridge for Byron to find, and not worry about what my mother would say. Sometimes, it's good to be an adult.

Hey darlin, you need any more yarn?

Scratch that, do you WANT any more yarn?

Hobby Lobby has a sale right now on their Lion Brand stuff, 25% off. The store at 119th and Metcalf had a very tempting selection this afternoon.

Even had sock yarns--a 25/75 acrylic wool blend by Bernat, $2 and change per skein, and the self-striping "Magic Stripes" by Lion Brand (on sale for $3 and change).

They have some of their knitting needles on sale this week, too.

Did I mention I was going string shopping today? Didn't find the gold braid I was looking for, although I did find about half a card of the stuff hidden in one of my thread boxes after we got home. Left Hobby Lobby with $40 worth of clearance pattern books, some 5" long doll needles (some of the gals on the temari list like them, thought I'd give them a try), 4 skeins of sock yarn, and 2 skeins of Bernat's eyelash yarn in a sinful purple ombre (I'm thinking Xmas present for Robyn on that stuff).
