The sock report--socks at work
Jul. 17th, 2003 05:22 amGot about 2" done on the second spiral rib sock yesterday. That was my afternoon sock, 'cuz that yarn doesn't seem to fuzz up too bad in the heat and humidity. So, it'll be my afternoon sock today too--the radio on the way to work was bleating about 98 degrees and heat index of 110. Think of me when you're in the air conditioning this afternoon.
Started a pair of "Aran Sandal Socks" from the same book as the spiral rib. Slightly heavier yarn, size 2 needles. Aran colored, of course. I had to upsize them a bit for my ankles, so I spent a happy hour or so in the water truck recharting the cable patterns for 72 sts rather than the 60 sts in the book. Not too difficult. I was disappointed to see, after knitting the first 1 1/2" in pattern, that the cables really didn't show. But, when I got home from work and tried it on my foot, I found that the cables did show up nicely, and were more elastic than I expected.
Got about 2" done on the sweaer sleeve last night; too tired for more than that. Another 2", and then I'll start the second sleeve. That way, I can make sure all three pieces have the same amount of the grey yarn. If I have a little extra, I want to use it on the neckband, pull hte color up and make the breaks look more intentional. We'll see.
Despite the ominous skies and sprinkles this morning, I'm watering again today. Happy day. Courtney's going to start coming back to work next week; I'll actually have to start doing real work then (at least, on the two days a week we'll overlap). Blech.
