Monday's revenge
May. 7th, 2003 10:52 amI spent half the morning trying to figure out what happened to half of my flower order for this year. Argh. My life would be so much simpler if the boss would let me bite the people who really deserve it.
Apparently , the grower goofed up and pulled my stuff out of the "hold for shipping" section and sold it to someone else. Then had the balls to tell me that, and say he was out of those things. So, I get to go shopping tomorrow, and hope I can find things that at least match.
I got enough to do the smallest flower bed competely, half the perennials I'd ordered, and a few of the other annuals. *shakes head* Not the way to do business.
Had a productive day in the garden Monday. Got lots weeded, and some things planted (the veggie garden was just too wet to plant the things that went in there). I may get all of the iris beds completely cleaned out this year.
The shaded blue cotton sweater project has morphed. I got suspicious last night, and checked my gauge. I guess I've loosened up a lot since I did the swatch, because I'd started out at 4 sts to the inch, and now I'm at 3 sts to the inch. Big difference. So now, instead of 4" of ease, I have more like 18". I REALLY don't want to rip it out and start over, so I dug out more of the yarn and declared the project a tank dress instead of a tank sweater. I think the fabric's drapey enough (and light enough) for that. At least it's going fast, whatever it's growing up to be.
The beige tank top is half done now--fnished the front and I'm 8" up the back. Still haven't decided if I really want the tank look, or if I should knit the optional sleeves for it. May have to make it up and see if it needs sleeves. I've gotten used to wearing things that hide my landscaper's tan.
