My resolution to not start projects until I had finished at least one of the ongoing projects is completely in tatters after this weekend. *sigh* I am such an addict.

I got this really cool shawl pattern, "the Buttefly", froma gal on the knitting list. It's worked in one piece and is stitched up the sides a short ways to make simple sleeves, so it behaves better. How could I resist? Three days and two balls of yarn later, I'm about 2/3 done. I'm workign it in a light green Wool-ease Sport stranded with a fine loopy rayon/wool blend in blues and purple. It works better than it sounds, colorwise. And it's very soft. It's been a fun pattern to knit, and I'm already doing a mental inventory of the stash, to fiure out what else I've got that knits to the right gauge.

AND, I gave in to the call of the new yarn (that 3# cone of fingering weight wool) last night......After half the afternoon of swatching and looking at patterns, I settled into Meg Swanson's Super Spiral shawl (from A Gathering Of Lace). It's lovely....8 arms that make a tight spiral out from the center. And fast--fingering weight wool, #10 needles. In the grey wool, it looks like a big pile of cobwebs on the needles.

I've got enough of that yarn, I'm considering a lace Faroese shawl next. Or maybe anoher circular lace.....

I did do something besides knitting this weekend. Donna sent petunias and purple-leafed plectranthus home with me, and I stole some perennials from work Sat, and got them planted Sun. That meant clearing more space in the iris beds; always a good thing. I've almost got one of the beds completely cleared, and two others are about 1/2 done. That's already better than last year.

Started moving perennials yesterday. A large sage, chunks out of the oregano and wild thymes, so far. I need to move tansy, and the Maximillian sunflowers (can we say invasive?), and take chunks out of the golden oregano and all the lemon balm. Except for the sunflowers, all that can go in the iris beds. The sunflowers will move to the front ditch for color and erosion control. Some silly person put down a whole package of 'Citronella' lemon balm seed at the greenhouse; I need to make sure that silly person leaves some garden space for that, because I know where Donna will want to send the extras.

I'm going in later today, to help Donna get ready for the plant sale--May 2, if you're interested--and staying late to teach a pruning lab for her home hort class.
