Today's the start of my first full week back at work, and I actually have to work for a change. How depressing. I'd hoped to be able to ease my way back into this work thing, but we haven't had any rain lately, so I'm going to be out watering trees all day (hopefully I can get them all before it turns cold later in the week).

The knitting report:

I've kinda stalled on By's blue socks; I'm at the boring part and haven't had the attention span to finish. I'm going to try to make myself do some on them tonight. Got the first of the brown turkish socks almost done. I think I'm going to leave the cuff for now, do the heel, and check for fit before I finalize the cuff. I'm trying to make this pair come higher up the leg, and I'm not sure I got the shaping right.

Started another new project last weekend. I've been mentally playing with the idea of a circular textured afghan for a while, and I just had to try out some of the ideas to see if they'd work. Spent a couple of hours charting it, ripped out and reknitted the first six inches three times to get the silly thing to lay flat. The present incarnation has 8 triangular panels, with various cable patterns running out from the center, and is (at best guess) about 24" across. maybe more, I'm not going to take it off the needle to measure it, because I don't want to try to remount all 500 sts back on the needle. By the way, did you know that 500 sts in worsted weight yarn will fit on a 24" #8 circular needle? I didn't. Hopefully, I can another pattern repeat's worth of increases (about 80 sts, if I remember right) on the same needle before I have to change gears. Don't really have a plan for the rest of the piece yet.

Enough babbling for now. I have a brand new Plant Delights catalog to read. I'll be a while :)

The truly annoying thing about today is it's so very very nice, and I'm stuck in a water truck, ticking the day away 5 minutes at a time, trying to make sure all the new stuff gets enough water to (hopefully) carry them through until it rains. Five minutes per tree, about 45 minutes to fill the tank, approx 60 minutes to empty it.

Not enough time between trees to actually do something constructive, and I decided (mature knitting decision, scary!) to NOT bring knitting today, because my hands need a rest.

Boring boring boring.
