Dead birds are icky.

treeskinTwo dead birds on the sidewalk this morning....makes 3 this week. And the custodians are too squicked to pick them up, so grounds gets to do it.
It's been a nice slow week at work, which lets me ease into the whole cold-turning-into-winter thing. I've worn longjohns (bottoms, anyway) all week. The air's not that cold, but the ground is, and I've been doing end-of-season planting and weed-pulling, and that means kneeling on COLD ground.
By started designing a project for the annual show last night...a leather and metal basket to carry wine in. What was done before I went to bed last night was impressive.
I went to rehearsal this week....it went better, but Carol and Bob were both absent. We spent much of the time sorting music and figuring out what we're going to play for the holiday season. Yup, Xmas muzak already. The two new renaissance pieces are cool, but I had my fill of Frosty and Rudolph last year.
The UnSock Report: I had a short attention span last night, so I did four rows on the lily of the valley shawl, then picked up and knitted on the grey faroese shawl (the one I designed at work) for an hour. Couldn't focus on knitting, so I put it down and read. I hope to get more done this weekend.
Still stitching on the last caterpillar book. I've finished the third crossing of the spine, and I've probably got an evening's work left on it. Had I had more attention span last night, I could have finished it, I think. I'm going to try to scan the finished books (and the finished side of this book) tonight, get some pics posted.
Scored some more text-weight paper today--some 9" square pink, and some 8.5x11" white, which had a narrow band of shaded grey printing on one side. It looks neat, I think, so I folded a few signatures and decided I liked it that way. It makes visible "sections" to the signature....several pages with the grey band, then several white pages. I may fold more pages today at work, if the boss will leave us alone today. I'd really rather work on something artsy.
