Jun. 10th, 2004 07:04 amI guess it's supposed to rain a good chunk of today, too. At least until 10am, acccording to Gridpoint Forecast, all day according to weather.com. I'm prepared--I have knitting.
I have more things to plant, when it stops raining. Donna gave me a penstemon (seedling of Husker Red, which means it has white flowers and reddish foliage), a division of her green Arundo donax, and a pot of mystery mint (not sure what kind it is, and there's only one way to find out).
By didn't work yesterday, due to rain, and may not work today. We'll see. He did get odds and ends around the house done--thanks honey! And, he made me a nice little recorder stand, so set beside my chair and hold the 4 instruments I use at rehearsal and performances. It's very nice...100-yr-old oak (salvaged lumber, he said), with a rubbed-on reddish wax finish. Looks great with my wooden recorders.
The Sock Report: Didn't get as much done on the croc print sock as I'd hoped yesterday, but I'm nearly done with the gusset increases. I'll be happy if I get that and the heel done today.
The UnSock Report: Finished the @#$@ hemmed cuff on The Sweater. Did I mention I'm never designing with that little detail again? Just checking. It does look spiffy, though. Sat down, recalculated the rate of increases on the sleeve (which is a smooth taper from the cuff at 10" circumference to the armhole at 24"), and figured out how I'm going to work the increases into the pattern--I'm going to do filler, until there's enough sts to add a pattern repeat width-wise, and start at the beginning of the next repeat (row-wise). And, I've got the first dozen rnds of the colorwork done on this sleeve.
The UnSock Report, project wish-list: I'd picked up the newest issue of Knitter's Magazine last Sunday, mostly for the lily-of-the-calley lace shawl. I think I've almost talked myself into it...it's worked on #5's, with a superfine mohair yarn (but I have other yarn that would work). The daunting part is the note at the beginning of the pattern that says it has over 90,000 sts. Yikes. Not today. But someday, maybe in the next year. I'd like to finish The Sweater before next winter; this might be my next "you're doing WHAT?" project.
