Summer session doesn't start until next week, lots of people are gone this week for the holiday, and it's blissfully quiet on campus. At least, it is if you're far away from the construction zone.

Spent yesterday water & fertilizing trees on the tree trail. I'm filling up the water truck now, so I can do the same today. It's actually a very good excuse to knit all day at work--each tree only takes about 5 mintes, which isn't enough time to go do something else, and since I have to leave the truck running so the pump doesn't run the battery down, I have to stay with the truck. Therefore, I must watch the truck and knit between trees. (The boss knows, and seems cool with it.)

Got 4" done on the second blue star sock yesterday, in between trees. Hope to get as much done again today--that'd put me very close to finishing those (now that it's too hot to wear the silly things). Last night, I got the short-row shaping done on the bottom of the sweater I'm reknitting (the beige one I was talking about last few weeks--didn't find out how off the guage was until I sewed it together), and started on the body of the piece. I'm changing the instructions on that one so I can knit it in the round rather than back and forth in pieces. Faster my way, I think.

AND!!!!! my birthday present arrived last night. By let me order a pattern and yarnpack for a sweater. Well, I'm excited. Very nice, imported cotton yarn in a rich blue (great against my tan), same lines (same designer) as the beige sweater, keyhole neck with lacing up the front. And, the ends of the sleeves lace closed. So, as soon as the beige sweater is done......

Must go now, the truck's almost full. I'm ready for an easy day at work--knitting, and two new bulb catalogs.

Oh, before I forget--classics_cat, do youstill need more petunias? Donna's trying to send stuff home with me. Well, she succeeded last night (5 flats!), but she's got more she wants to get rid of. Mostly pink petunias, couple of lavenders, I think. And some other stuff. I might be persuaded to bring it to your place Monday (is good?) Justl et me know.

Yes, please!! :) I don't mind as to color--I've got enough different stuff blooming right now that no matter what I get, it will go with something and clash cheerfully with something else.

I know exactly where I'll put them, too. Monday is very good; I'm not working on campus that day.

If you have any mint you want to get rid of, I'd be more than happy to take that off your hands, too. :)

BTW, another one of my clematis is blooming--you saw the purple, right? I bought four plants, two each of two kinds. Two purple, two pink. The new one is burgundy. I'm not complaining, mind you, it was just a surprise. Guess that's what I get for buying cheap clematis. :)

Oh, and my thymes are all blooming...exceedingly lovely. :)

Heh--mint, you say? You want mint?

*rubs hands together and chortles*

Donna was wanting to get rid of some Kentucky Colonel spearmint (I told her not to plant 5 pots in a 10x8 space, that's too close......). And I'm sure I can arrange a nice variety for you.

It'll probably be afternoon; now that it's warm, I'm trying to water etc in the mornings. And, being gone for most of a week for Heartland, I have a lot of "etc" to catch up on.

I forgot to mention earlier--the Sterling Silver rose is blooming, and true to type! Yippee! Granted it's a little small this year, but that's easily remedied.

Ah, well. The truck be full of water again. Must dash.

I've decided (unilaterally, mind you) that you need plant illustrations (or portions thereof) as user icons. I'm thinking maybe some old engravings would be just lovely. What do you think?

I was holding out until I got the "sprig of mint, rampant" illustration done, but your idea isn't bad.

I do have chlorophyll on the brain irght now, don't I?

You have chlorophyll on the brain, I have leather (and electricity) on the brain. So no comment, here... glass houses and all.

Glass houses are good. They let me grow more plants.
