Children have been (sort of) cleaned up after getting wet and muddy outside, been fed, enjoyed their daily viewing of Princess and the Frog, and the Imperial Nap Decree has been imposed. (Yay!)

The weather has been near to perfect the past couple of days, so we've been playing outside. Yesterday, The Miss and I made twisted willow-branch wreaths. One big one for our neighbor who just had surgery, and a bunch of smaller ones, because we had extra twigs and it was fun. The Miss spent most of this morning wearing willow wreaths as bracelets and another as a crown; there are pictures. The Bug spent the morning getting muddy; I'm told it's a boy thing.

My Male Parental Unit was in my sister's town today to visit his aunt, who's very elderly and in hospice. Sis didn't let him stay long. I keep telling her she doesn't have to let him in, but she keeps trying to be polite. Which is weird, but that's Sis. Mom and I have both told Sis that she doesn't have to give MPU her new address after she moves, and reminded her not to give it to Crazy Aunt Kathy (who will immediately pass it on to MPU). Dunno if she'll listen.

Grandma is making Mom crazy, and it's only 3 weeks into the school year. She called Mom on her cell, AT WORK, yesterday, because Grandma had decided to make some jelly (!) and needed Mom to fetch her some Sure-Jel. Right then. And so Mom was in trouble for (a) not answering her phone right away, and (b) making Grandma wait until after school let out to get her stuff. (We'll not go into the wisdom of letting an 85-yr-old nearly blind diabetic women make jelly in the tiny kitchen of her apartment......)

Just finished Killbox by Ann Aguirre, and am much vexed that I have to wait a whole year for the next book. **big sigh** I ought to make a calender, which books are coming out when, in which series.

Not much else going on. Sis hasn't set a firm date for the grand move, but she's cleaning and packing. Very little progress on construction this week, because of the weather and the holiday. And now, I'm off to sew on dolls while I've got the chance.

Today is moving in slow motion. The kids are still napping, the cats are all sleeping at me, the neighbor doing target practice in the field has stopped shooting, and all my usual during-naptime haunts on the internet are inactive. Which is a sign that I should have taken a nap while I had the chance.

Too late now, the boychild is awake and cranky. So much for quiet.

Tonight, Sis is at a birthday party for her soon-to-be father-in-law. His 50th. Which means that:

* My sister's fiance is 10 years older than her oldest child (and isn't that a little wrong?)

and

* Her father-in-law-to-be is only 12 years older than I am.

Weird.
