Am eyeing the wares from Handpainted Yarns, because someone special tol me I could get string for my birthday. Oooooo, string! So I picked 2 (!!) projects out of A Gathering of Lace, and now I'm trying to decide on the perfect string for them.

So, first, the Roseleaf Tunic(*)....simple drop-shoulder yoke, roseleaf lace sleeves and body, worked in laceweight yarn on 8's. Am thinking cinnebar or garnet.

Second, the diamond lace vest, also simple shaping, fairly detailed lace pattern. Am thinking one of the two reds again, or maybe rich earth. Or a blue. The company doesn't have the shades of green that I like, but the selection of blue shades rocks.

*By's comment about this tunic: "That'd be cute with no shirt under it. Woo, nipples! You know, they'd sell more knitting patterns if the patterns showed more nipples!" Sounds like he's been talking to Fred again.

Called in with an eye problem(*) yesterday morning. It was cold and icky out, good day to do it, and I REALLY needed the extra sleep. By turned the alarm off when he left, and I slept until 10am, and the world was better. Well, it was until I went out this morning and saw frost on my windshield on the last day of April. What's with that?

Didn't get the cleaning done that I'd intended to, but did get some baking done. (Note to self: double the filling for those rolls next time. 1 tsp is barely enough to taste the filling.) Got a little string done--a few rows of Kiri, while I was futzing with the computer, a couple more inches on the green and yellow Turkish socks while the bread dough was rising.

Am much vexed with the computer. Can't get the darn thing to recognize the external hard drive exists, which is Very Much Bad, because that's where my knitting patterns are. (Well, there's a ton of stuff on there right now, but those are the important things...) Am afraid we'll have to compeltely reinstall the thing, and that's a task we really don't have time for right now.

By's off to work on salvaging stuff for Robyn's cabins today, because Albert's schedule changed, and he has to do that building soon. He was trying to get Robyn down to that site this morning, so she could see some of the parts and veto any she didn't like, but I'm not sure that's still in today's plans.

I've got a pile of stuff to spray today, when it finally warms up a bit. Good thing I rested up. "Don't apply when target weeds are under stress" definitely applies to "it's April and it's 34 degees out". On the other hand, the boss won't pester me while I'm doing that.

And the boss is leaving at noon today, or so he said earlier. *crosses fingers* I'd really like to get some knitting done this afternoon, or even leave early. I'm headed to the Charlesworth's after work, to do more data entry for registration; getting out of here early would let me leave there earlier.

*Note: eye problem = "Boss, I can't see myself coming in to work today."
