We're back. By's off to work today, or we might have stayed another day, and enjoyed doing that much more nothing. I still have a ridiculous amount of superfine red glitter on my face and chest, and in my hair.

Had a good time. The weather was nice, only rained once (and there was great rejoicing), and minimal camp drama (and most of that stayed in someone else's camp). Not as many of our usual crew made it, because of work and life stuff...Ashe & Karen, Fred & Lisette, Chuck, Dustin (one of the Omaha crew) but not his wife Marie (stuck at work), Jack and his girlfriend (from Lawrence), and us. Heather ahd DJ are in school in Virginia now, so they couldn't come. Frank couldn't make it because of work, but he did pop out Monday afternoon and say hello to the out-of-state people before they left.

The auction on Sat night raised over $4700, which I think is a record. By picked up a couple of long knives/short swords (By and pokey things, big surprise there). I bid on a basket of beads and stuff, but wasn't willing to pay a super amount for it, and someone else was. Ah well. I can get beads other places.

Sunday night's "entertainment" was odd...it's usually a No Talent show, followed by the Contessa contest. This year it was an odd play spoofing the Wizard of Oz, with the No Talent Show acts coming onto stage during the breaks, and the Contessa contest at the end. Made the thing take FOREVER, and so the fire wasn't started until way affter midnight.

Chuck and another fellow are co-Contessa's this year. Chuck went as "Uranus Williams, the sister the rest of the family doesn't talk about". It was as bad as you're imagining. Plus the presentation of "Ms Williams" by Pimp Daddy (Ashe), all dudded up in lighted feather boas and purple sequined shirt, in Tyler's '69 Lincoln, with as many attendant "ho's" as he could fit in said Lincoln (three, and I was one of them). All of us covered in glitter, too....wonder if Tyler thought about that before he let us in his car? Probably not. It was fun, though. The comment was made that Heretic Camp had a lot of flair for a bunch of (mostly) straight folks, and Tyler threw up his hands and annouced loudly that gay men had better taste than that. Mrph.

Did get to see Pet, who brought his new girlfriend over to meet me. That was cool, she's a nice gal. A little older than he is, massage therapist (woo hoo, where can I get me one of those?). And she let me borrow him for an evening, which was awfully nice of her. Need to call him today, and make sure he got home okay, he was having truck trouble again as we were leaving.

Finished two of my projects at camp--"I brought a box of yarn, and I intend to use it!" Two of the 3-strand crocheted rugs, plus used up the leftovers from those rugs in starting a third (it's about half done). Started (but did not finish) a knitted string shopping bag; I'll probably have that done tonight. And a croched bag, since I wasn't sure which texture I'd like better. And I made progress on my Origami Kimono sweater.

Before we left yesterday, I gathered oak leaves for that mead I've been thinking about for the last month. Several good handfuls each of red and bur oak--I plan to use them separately, see if they taste different. Starting that is today's major project.
