Your tax dollars at work (not)
Aug. 28th, 2004 07:29 amMy motivation level is in the toilet this morning. Cool, not raining anymore, but we got 3" of rain last night at work, so everything's very very wet, and The Other Dave is back today, and currently snoozing in his textbook. Very motivating.
Had a quiet evening last night. Talked to Mom; she's going to stay with my sister tomorrow, if Sis doesn't pop by then. They plan to induce labor early Monday morning; Mom's going to stay a couple of days and get my nephew off to school.
We talked a lot about Grandma, and the fact that Mom's worried about her, and neither of Mom's brothers spend enough time with Grandma to see how old and fragile she's getting. Mom said Grandma's not driving in Wichita anymore; one of her younger brothers, or my mom, takes her in to the city for doctor's appointments. That's good, because it's safer for Grandma and anyone else on the road at the time, but it also means she needs to be somewhere where services are closer, or where she can get transportation. Grandma's talking about assisted living places in Augusta (where her youngest brother and his wife live), or Hutchinson (close to Mom's older brother, his two kids, and my sister)...Mom's trying to talk her into looking at the one in Lincoln, because Mom's the one who sees Grandma most often. *shrug* Not much I can do about it, but be supportive of Mom. I am glad, though, that Grandma's talking about the move on her own, and it's not something the family's got to force her to do.
I guess Robyn had a decent return from her garage sale. She would have liked to make more, but hey, the stuff's out of the way. She was talking about having By post a "free for all" on freecycle, for Sunday morning, to get rid of the leftovers. She's going to have a separate sale later, for just the doll stuff.
By's off to Habor Freight today, unsupervised, to get a diamond cutoff wheel for the project he's working on. The jeweler's saws he has aren't quite enough to cut turquoise cleanly. That project will take most of the rest of the day (once he gets the garage bailed out, anyway).
