Finished: One bone pendant, strung on red satin cord and knotted in place, two bead-embroidered appliques for my costume (one leafish shape, mostly green, and one butterfly in cream and rose), and a bead-crocheted bracelet in matte emerald beads, with a spiral of brighter iridescent green twisting around it.
I like this bead crochet stuff. Even kinda like the stringing part...it's just the right combination of repetitive and thinking ahead to engage and slow the mind. Almost meditative. While the actual crocheting isn't effortless, it's not difficult, more a matter of paying attention, and enjoying the feel of the beads....and the results---soft, slinky, cool glass that glides over your skin.....
'Scuse me, I put the beads down and I'm better now.
In progress: I started, and have finished nearly 6" of netted fringe for the long narrow scarf. I need 14" wide, for two ends. But that 6" didn't take long, and did include the time it took to figure out the instructions. I'll sew the finished fringe on after I get the scarf dyed (planned for Friday).
WIM (Works In Mind): I have drawn out a bunch more leaf and butterfly shapes to embroider and pin to the costume, whatever I have done in time. The important things (except for the fringe) are done already.
I'd also like to do a BUNCH of bead embroidery directly on part of the costume itself, but I'll settle for what gets done. Hey, if it's a work in progress, I can still do things to it after the party, and bring it out and show it off, with more neat stuff, two or three more times.
And yes, we'll be taking pictures. I've already promised oodles of people, there will be pictures. And now you have it in writing.
Think I'm going to go string more beads now. I should have a red bracelet to go with the necklace cord, don't you think?
