Watering all day again today. Will do it tomorrow. There are circular cracks around some of my trees, following the outer edge of the root balls. Not good.

Didn't leave work until 6:15 last night. For the record, that's 15 min shy of a 12-hr day. Blech. Don't plan on staying that late tonight, but I will be staying later again. Hard to get the pruning, etc done and have time to water everything that needs it.

The sock report: Finished the first of the sport-weight spiral rib socks yesterday, and am 2 pattern repeats (out of 5) into the second. They move much faster in this weight of yarn, and I am declaring the experiment a success. They're even Byron approved. (Hee hee, guess what he's getting for Yule.....) I think that after I finish this pair, I'll try doing a two-color rib in this pattern--work the knit sts of the pattern in one color, and the purl sts in another. That would make good winter socks.

I've started designing the 9-sts-per-inch sweater. Got about 5" of pattern charted--scrollwork and triskeles as the bottom border. I'm leaning towards some sort of key pattern for the main body of the sweater, but I haven't settled on one I like yet.

Ah, tank's about full. Time to go.
