Blue Coptic Book

Didn't get a good scan of the inside of the book. This one works kinda like a jelly-roll...the text block sits on the cover, the flap on the left folds in, then the flap on the right folds over that, and the cord wraps around and ties around the button to hold it closed. Usually done in leather.
3 3/4" wide x 3 1/2" tall x 7/16" deep, closed & including cover. 5 signatures, 90 pages. Text block is composed of heavier than text-weight strips that I pulled out of the dumpster. Cover is two layers of window-blind fabric I got cheap at Cummings Tools a while back. Sewn with blue perle cotton.
This style has the same problem that the caterpillar binding has, there is an opening between the signatures when you open the book. On the other hand, it opens completely flat, so it's much easier to write in. It's a stable binding otherwise, and the pages are very protected. I'm using a leather covered one for my knititng notebook right now.
