I <3 my 3-day weekends
Oct. 4th, 2004 11:11 amI need the recovery time. Despite the Benadryl and hot shower afterwards, I'm still hacking up fair dust today.
Many thanks to my friends who actually sat through the RenFest performances, and who commisserated with me about it afterwards. (It was bad, 'nuff said.)
dracokc, you will remember send me that pic of you in the cowboy hat? Pretty please? I want proof you appeared in public in such a thing.
In between assulting eardrums, By & I wandered Fest, and sat with
classics_cat to watch the SCA fighting, and took in a show. If you're out there the next two weekends, go listen to Mental Pause. They're new this year, and they're hillarious.
Poor By is working for Johnny today, but he's supposed to get money from him for the cuffs he made...and hopefully, news about how Johnny's anniversary went this weekend :) He's going to work for Robyn the rest of the week. Hopefully, he'll be back to one job very soon.
The UnSock Report: I took two project with me yesterday, the Orenburg-style scarf, and the leftover orange alpaca yarn, intending to turn it into Voodoo Wristwarmers. I didn't get to work on the lace, but I finished the first wristwarmer and started the second while at fest, and finished the second and wove in ends at home afterwards. In case anyone's interested, these are a super-easy, 4-hour project (for me, anyway), and they're quite comfy.
I spent some quality time with the lace last night. Finished the last pattern repeat, turned corner #3, and started working the edging across the top. It's about five and a half feet long, lightly stretched, so it ought to block out to six feet without problem. Next challenge: figure out how to block this thing. Not sure it will fit on the bed.
I was bad this morning, and pulled out the Weldon's Practical Needlework (volume 5), and started scouting for my next lace project. Charted one pattern, the myrtle leaf leace. I might try to rework it a little bit, see if I can get some of the decreases to line up better. Have to swatch it first, and see if it's worth the bother.
