A Wizard of Oz moment
Jul. 8th, 2004 08:03 amThere was a house blocking Hwy 7 on my way in to work this morning. On a trailer, which was in the median. The house stuck out on either side. North-bound traffic was being routed up and over the exit and on ramps for Shawnee Mission Parkway; south-bound traffic was passing on the right shoulder. As best I could tell (this was at 5:45 am, mind), a tire on the trailer had blown out. There were lots of vehicles with flashy emergency lights, and busy-looking people scurrying to and fro.
Took it easy yesterday. Puttered online in the morning, took recycling in and got groceries in the afternoon. A little laundry in the evening.
By's working for Robyn today and tomorrow, or that was the plan last night. We'll see.
The Sock Report: Only an inch left on By's socks. Got distracted with the shawl I'm working on. Hope to have it done this week.
The UnSock Report, Paper Stuff: Began and finished a pair of small blank hard-bound books, intended as address books. Used pieces of the leftover posters
sdemory gave us from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" for the covers. Also finished a larger (3x5-ish) coptic-bound book, with more of the poster material as covers. Got pages folded for two more small books, which I didn't finish because I spent a fair amount of time looking for the reference books I'd misplaced, and used up my energy in that.
The UnSock Report, Knitting Stuff: Nearly to the armholes on the U Can 2 shell. I'm incorporating the waist and bust shaping from the Shapely Tee (from White Lies Designs), just adjusting for the looser gauge of the cotton. The end is in sight, which is great, because I'm tired of this slippery cotton yarn.
Got lots done on the lily of the valley shawl on our road trip. Just finished the second pattern repeat last night (so 40 rows into the body of the shawl), and that makes it about 4" into the body of the shawl. Lots left to do, but when the unblocked gauge is about 10 rows to the inch, every inch is a lot of progress.
