Jun. 24th, 2004 07:15 amSpent yesterday afternoon pulling weeds on the tree trail, and a good chunk of the evening trying to get the cottonwood fluff and pollen out of my lungs. I didn't sleep well last night, and I'm still itchy and plugged up today. Grrr.
I've got a couple of busy-work projects to do today. Got to put down more blood meal around my asters, 'cuz the rabbits think that flower bed is a salad bar, and the boss wants me to drive the gravel path on the tree trail and get the total distance on it. Very exciting.
Grounds Foreman is leaving next week. He's been actively looking for another job since he got turned down for the supervisor's position, but it's still kinda weird, thinking about work without him here as reference material. He's buying a construction cleanup business, I guess, going out on his own.
By ended up doing most of a day of demolition for Terry yesterday...suddenly, after being put off for one reason or another, Terry decided he could use By on that job too. So, he's got work today through Sat, at least. He came home with 7, 40" wide wooden doors from this project...they're destined to become countertops, for my workspace and the shop. And another box of yarn from Robyn. (I need to start moving those into the junk room--the living room is getting crowded).
I did remember to pull my renaissance music books last night, to take to practice. Betty's wanting to get started on music for RenFest this week. Not sure what day we're playing out there....hope it's later in the season, as late as we are starting on the music.
Didn't finish the halter top last night. Got it mostly done, sewed the last couple of pieces on, and tried it on....By said, "It looks nice, but it's not quite you." *sigh* He is right, and I really appreciate him being that honest, but it's damn annoying to put that much time in, on a yarn that tricky, and decide to frog the whole thing out. Unless--
classics_cat, do you think you'd wear a halter top that tied behind the neck, with a babydoll skirt? It'd be top-of-hip or slightly above that length on you, it's mid-hip on me. Ivory cotton, very shiny smooth yarn. Lemme know if you're interested, and I'll bring it over Sunday and let you try it on. (This also affects which yarn I use for that shell....not sure I have enough of the ivory, if I finish the halter, but I have other things I can work into it, so don't let that stop you. Just trying to plan ahead a bit.)
Anyway, as consolation, I pulled out the shell pattern I'd planned to start this weekend, and started casting on for it. Twice, before I gave up--was doing a long-tail cast on, and didn't leave a long enough string. Grrr. That's my signal to put the yarn away and go to bed. I'll try again tonight after rehearsal.

Date: 2004-06-24 07:07 am (UTC)I finished Ranj's purple socks last night and he loves them, even though I could instantly see about eight things wrong with them, starting with how loosely they're knit. I started another pair of purple socks for me this time, with the second ball of purple yarn, since his took not quite one ball. I'm still on 8s, but I went down to 32 stitches and am knitting it much tighter, and it seems to be doing better. I've also gotten the hang of doing that "lift the stitch below" invisible increase, I think. I was ending up with little holes, I think because I was picking up the wrong part of the stitch.
My yarn box came last night (whee!). You have to look at it on Sunday before we leave. The yarn for the kimono sweater is luscious, and so is the sock yarn, although it's real sock yarn so I hope I got enough.
I need to shower and eat breakfast and go. Bleah! After my week off, it's been hard getting back into the swing of things.
