Rain rain rain
Jun. 9th, 2004 11:48 amJust enough that I REALLY don't want to go out and do something, but it's slow enough at times that I could, were I more motivated. Courtney and I have been assembling and sorting the new shipment of ID labels for trees & stuff on campus. We could have had that done hours ago, but she's no more motivated than I am. And it's supposed to rain more this afternoon, so we're trying to stretch this out the rest of the day. The new boss didn't understand Maintenance Supervisor when he said that "we don't work when it rains". New Boss apparently thought MS meant "we don't work outside when it rains." Silly human. This is a government job, remember?
Oh, just for the record, the rain gauge in our parking area says we've had about 3/8" so far. Not bad.
The UnSock Report, part the first: Got a little more done on the rug yesterday. Ended up putting it down mid-afternoon, because it's just that heavy, and my hands were tired.
The UnSock Report, part the second: Nearly finished with the first cuff on The Sweater. Note to self: we're NEVER designing a sweater with this much 1x1 corrugated ribbing again. Never. I mean it. Gee whiz--it took me a whole movie last night to do 1 1/2" of the corrugated rib, and I'm only a third of the way around joining the cast-on to the current row (trying to pre-finish the hem on the cuffs, another bad idea, by the way, it's very very slow). But it does look very nice. My next sweater project will be simpler, I think....probably a cabled one for By. And at the rate I'm going through stash yarn, I'll probably have to *gasp* buy new yarn to do it.
The UnSock Report, part the third: Got a new pattern-hunting request. One of the gals in Omaha wants to knit and felt a cloak. Hmmmm. I do have a crocheted cloak pattern, haven't seen any knitted ones. And she's a fairly new knitter, so I can't give her a basic recipe and tell her to improvise.
The Sock Report: Up to the gusset shaping on the toe-up crocodile print sock that's been riding in my purse for the past two months. I'm hoping it will rain hard all afternoon, and I'll get more done. I'd love to be able to put this pair in the "Yule gifts done early" box.
