Saturday, I got to spend away from the kitchen. Yayyyy! I'd kicked Lisette out Friday afternoon, to defrag, and had taken some quiet time myself, but we both needed it Sat. Too many people to feed all at once. Dinner was simple Sat night--grill night.

Attended a workshop entitled "Mysteries of Hephaestus", by a blacksmith/bladesmith who calls himself Ken Ra. It was supposed to be a discussion about how our spirituality impacts our craftwork, and it was, for a bit, but it got diverted into a pair of elders talking shop and reminiscing. But that was cool too.

Saturday was also the women's firetending crew, and main ritual. The wind was really bad, so the very showy open crib they'd designed burned very hot and vrey fast, and threw embers all over the dance circle. *shrug* Happens, sometimes. It's spring, it's Kansas, etc.

Sunday's dinner was mostly leftovers, plus freshly sliced mangos and pineapples. Yum!

Sunday was my show--I spent about 4 hours drawing the rangoli this year, around a bonfire crib shaped like a hexagram. Six lotus blossoms, in a more Persian style, one off of each point of the crib, with a cypress motif as a seventh point, as a path to light the fire. Which did not go off as planned--they'd buried a series of fountains in the path, and had planned to have one of the firedancers set off that fuse, but it rained. And thundered, and stormed, and the second band for the night was late, so the concert didn't finish until midnight, and the pyrotechnics were soggy. But the bonfire did light. (Ashe says, "They call me ashe, not bubbles!") So I'm told, I crashed when the rain started, adn got a blissful 12 hours of sleep. By stayed up until 4am, he said.
