What’s the difference between the Rolling Stones and a Scotsman?
The Rolling Stones say “hey, you, get off of my cloud!”
The Scotsman says, “hey, MacLeod, get off of my ewe!”
We meant to spend Sunday and Monday planting and packing. Ended up out at camp Sunday afternoon, getting things ready for the fires, and hanging out at Heretic Camp. Spent Monday planting like a madwoman: 7 rose bushes, three flats of perennials, a flat of veggies, and three flats of annuals. Plus pulling weeds and making space for each plant. Making space also meant digging out two whole clumps of that damn sunflower, which took about 20-30 minutes apiece, by the time I got all the little tubers out of the ground. I hope I got all of the tubers out of the ground. *crosses fingers*
At 6pm Monday evening, I got a visit from the Leavenworth County sheriff, who delivered a citation of contempt of court for missing a court date, and notice of a Jun 4 court date (in Wichita, no less) to answer for it. ?!?!?!? After an evening of hysterical digging through our banking records, followed by pacing the floor and not sleeping at all that night, I talked to the lawyer’s office listed on the citation. We eventually established that I was not the J**** Phillips they were looking for, and the citation and summons did not apply. Wrong address history, wrong banks, wrong social security number, wrong legal name, in fact (because I did not change my name when I married, Phillips is By’s last name). Whew. (A formal letter absolving me arrived in Friday’s mail, so I’m officially not worried.) Since I’d packed most of my stuff while I was pacing Monday night, By sent me out to camp with instructions to RELAX, which the nice people there made sure I did.

Date: 2004-06-04 06:35 am (UTC)I'm developing a love/hate relationship with May....it's the right time to get so much done in the garden, but I'm so busy with work, and the family wants me to visit because school's out, and then Heartland preparations (which I can't explain to the family).....
